2010 Fall is Falling in
Vermont Days of Old... the Wildcat Gondola. We actually
rode in these buckets up Wildcat Mountain (NH White Mountains) all
winter, enjoying some quality second hand smoke from those we were
forced to share the gondola with.

After a season of attempted bee-keeping, my bees all died or flew
away after losing a queen. I re-queened, and the second queen did not
take.
Next year, I will move my hives to Wake Robin, and combine with the
three hives there and hope for better luck!

During Peggy's visit, she visited the Dana Place on the Ellis
River, Jackson, NH, site of our NH house and where Peggy & Michael
met.

11/7 Little River History Loop walk, Green Mountain Club:
This walk in Little River State Park (part of Mt. Mansfield State
Forest) at the Waterbury Reservoir, was a blast. We walked past
abandoned settlements, overgrown roads cemeteries and old farm sites.
We had lunch at an old grave site. It is an easy hike about 3.5 miles,
900’ elevation gain. A good family outing. (This walk is written up on
page 172 of your GMC 50 Hikes in Vermont - 6th edition). Showing
maximum disrespect for their toiling trip leader, the photo below
(taken by Uncle Phil H.) shows trip participants watching a squirrel
chewing a nut, while Ted read an educational passage about the
abandoned farmhouse just behind them....
During a plethora of visits
to NYC this fall, occasionally work would interfere, but I was able to
focus on quality South Indian food. That done, there was plenty of
walking including to the new High Line park on the lower west side. A
visit to the MOMA was a crowded highlight.

The High Line is located on Manhattan's West Side. It runs from
Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to 34th Street, between
10th & 11th Avenues. Section 1 of the High Line, which opened to
the public on June 9, 2009, runs from Gansevoort Street to 20th Street.
The High Line was originally constructed in the 1930s, to lift
dangerous freight trains off Manhattan's streets. Section 1 of the High
Line is open as a public park, owned by the City of New York and
operated under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of
Parks & Recreation.
