On the Quebec side of the Ottawa River:
“Des Swisha”, the Village of Rapides-des-Joachims is in Pontiac
County’s Aberdeen Township.
The Village occupies a five mile long island in the Ottawa River,
midway between Pembroke and Mattawa.
The mountain side opposite the waterfront hosts one of Canada’s rare
eagle preserves.
