2011 Winter Wunderland
After a slow start, this winter's
snowfall has finally turned respectable for this part of VT:
2/25/2011 - Burlington Free Press:
By now, we should be used to particularly snowy Vermont February.
Friday’s storm, which contributed to dozens of car crashes and spinouts
statewide — including one that involved a state trooper — brought
Burlington to the brink of having the snowiest February on record. It’s
become old hat: Four of the 10 snowiest February's have hit Vermont
within the past six years.... As Friday, the weather service measured
8.8 inches of new snow, bringing the month’s total to 40.7 inches.
That’s within 1.6 inches of the record for February in Burlington,
which was 42.3 inches in 2008. That record might fall.

The Champlain Valley is not known for its cold weather.
We have a lot of 'lake effect' that keeps temps much warmer than in the
Green mountains and points East.
So, can you imagine what it was like for others in VT this February?
Especially was home-heating oil payments are reduced this year?

all my bees this year as happened last year.

Destination: Sterling Pond, on the Long Trail. To the left (out of
view) is the top of Smuggler's Notch ski area.
To the right, the top of Spruce Peak (part of Stowe ski area). Fun to
ski, but more fun to hike into.
The little vertical line is the International Space Station passing
over Shelburne in February.
Jupiter is also visible to the right.
